A stone, pressed more or less firmly against the metal string, varies the tone, as does the resonance chamber as it is moved towards or away from the musician's abdomen

Berlin Schoolthe Berlin School of electronic music, or just Berlin School, was a development of electronic music in the 1970s characterized by soaring electric guitar or synthesizer melodies in high-register accompanied by complex, shifting sequencer bass ostinatos. The lead soloist's warm, human improvisations were counterpoint to the cold, robotic precision of the bassline. Sound effects such as wind, and washes of Mellotron choir, flute, or strings were often added for colour. Most works were instrumental, vocals were used sparingly

Michael Zapf comments, " in fact there are two Berlin Singakamie which we tell apart in German, but which in English are lumped together. One is the original, Die Sing-Akademie zu Berlin, that continued in West Berlin, the other, Die Berliner Singakademie, is its East German successor after the wall was built"

Bertso (s.), Bertsoak (pl.)improvised Basque verse
Bertsolari (s.), Bertsolariak (pl.)improviser of Basque verse
Bertsolaritza(literally 'the art of the bertsolari') a form of Basque poetry that is spontaneously created from a given topic. The Basque language was not written until the sixteenth century, but that was no obstacle to creating a rich oral literature, kept alive by the bertsolarismo and the pastorals. Curiously, the first written texts in the Basque language (the sentences iziogui dugu and guec ajutu ez dugu, 'we have lit' and 'we have not helped') are in the tenth-century Glosas Emilianenses, which also contain the first examples of the Castilian ballad. In the twelfth century, the Calixtino Codex mentions some Basque vocabulary of the people living along the pilgrim's road to Santiago de Compostela. But Linguae Vasconum Primitiae, the first book written in Basque by Bernard Dechepare, was not published until 1545. From then, and not without difficulties, a flourishing literature has developed. The bertsolaris improvise verses in a given metrical form (eight, ten lines...) for which they use little tunes. The meaning of the verses varies, from satire and humour to the finest lyricism. Competitions for bersolaris are held regularly; they help spread and interest in this type of popular literature

Bey(Turkish) originally a Turkish word for "chieftain," traditionally applied to the leaders of small tribal groups. In historical accounts, many Turkish, other Turkic and Persian leaders are titled Bey, Beg or Beigh. They are all the same word with the simple meaning of "leader." The regions or provinces where Beys (the equivalent of Duke in Europe) ruled or which they administered were called Beylik, roughly meaning "Emirate" or "Principality" in the first case, "Province" or "Governorate" in the second (the equivalent of Duchy in Europe). Today, the word is used as a social title for men (like the English word "mister")
